Nanton Alberta b&b accommodations. Chimney Rock Bed and Breakfast
Located in historic Breeding Valley with the Livingstone Range of the Alberta Rockies to the West

About our Bed & Breakfast

"How loud can quiet be?"

Chimney Rock Bed and Breakfast is nestled in what is historically known as Breeding Valley on the Eastern Slopes of the Alberta Rocky Mountains. During your stay, we will share the panoramic mountain views of the Livingstone Range from our deck overlooking Chaffen Creek or watch the cattle and horses quietly grazing in the valley below. You may be invited to help with chores or have a cup of coffee and listen while Tony shares some stories of the Valley - most are actually true!

Located south of Longview along the Cowboy Trail (Hwy #22), the Webster Ranch has been involved in the cattle business since 1946 and the homestead remains onsite. Lots of history and tradition on the range!

Peaceful and relaxing, this is an excellent location for your retreat or meeting yet easy to get out and explore some of our local attactions. We are open year round. Hiking, fishing and hunting are nearby with antique shopping and golfing a short drive away in Nanton.

Once you've settled in, there are lots of opportunities to listen to the creek, watch the birds and wildlife, take a walk, do some stargazing (or even see the Northern Lights!) and enjoy life without noise. A wonderful spot to sketch, paint, take pictures or press flowers (Deb's still learning).

Tours of our Grazing and Riparian (wetland) Demonstration Sites can be arranged for larger or smaller groups for a minimal fee. The Webster Ranch received the 2005 Farm Family Award for the M.D. of Ranchland recognizing the family's responsible stewardship and sustainable land management. We are working with the environment to benefit our livestock and wildlife.

Chimney Rock Bed and Breakfast has several activities scheduled for this year:
May 26 to June 1 - We are one of the host accommodation sites for Dames on the Range "Not your Momma's Social Club" inviting women to participate in a week-long self-driving tour including 2 other ranches (Brown Creek Ranch Vacations and Sierra West Cabins and Ranch Vacations). Experience a variety of activities from hiking, riding, shopping, holistic relaxation techniques provided by local practitioners, eating locally and entertainment with Ben Crane, Cowboy Poet, Artist and Musician. "Side-Winder" Daily Packages are available to sample some of these pursuits! Book through Chimney Rock B&B.

June 7 - Julie Walker, naturalist will host a Native Edible and Medicinal Plant Day. We will "graze" on the imported and native plants found in our fields, preparing them as the pioneers or natives would have - truly organic dining!

June 14-15 "Women in the Whaleback" Our outfitter, Julie Walker of Full Circle Adventures will guide a hike on the Whaleback Ridge to enjoy the wildflowers, views and the mountains. Julie's enthusiasm celebrates the natural treasures tucked away in our backyard!

Learn more about the importance of our water sources in June. Alberta Water Quality Awareness Day provides a basic understanding of water quality assessments - evaluating water in Chaffen Creek. Ask about booking. Come get your feet wet - www.awqa.com

Both bedrooms have queen-size beds - the "Room with a View" has an ensuite bath and the "Buckskin 'n Blue" has a private bath. Full, ranch-style breakfasts are included with your stay. Lunch or supper meals can be prepared for an extra charge, please allow 24 hours notice. To assist with menu preparation, advise of any special dietary concerns or preferences.

The Guest Lounge has 2 foldout futons for groups or families and may be re-arranged to setup as a small meeting room or retreat area. The library includes books to identify local flora, fauna or geological formations and historic tales of our region.

Chimney Rock Bed and Breakfast is located 3 km West of Hwy #22 (The Cowboy Trail) on Chimney Rock Road.
To get to Chimney Rock Road, a large green highway sign marks this road:
